United States-based reggae singer Ras Slick recently walked away with the coveted award of Best Male Vocalist at the 2014 Washington, DC, Annual Reggae Music Award Ceremony.
The award, which was initiated in 1997, promotes the mandate of honoring entertainers, businesses, and promoters within the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area and since 2005, has allowed winners to be chosen by public voting.
Known for his high-energy single Dreaming, Slick has been steadily promoting his music both locally and overseas. “I’ve been doing a lot of groundwork especially as it relates to getting more visuals out. Last year, I released videos for Dreaming and This Place, which is a conscious song about the current state of Jamaica, and I’m heading back to Jamaica in August to premiere my Master My Time video,” he revealed.
An excellent stage performer, Slick has shared the stage with a number of prominent acts, including Luciano, for whom he opened at Howard Theatre, and Da’ville, to name a few.
With his upcoming mixtape, Higher Level, only weeks away, Slick is promising high-quality music for his fans. “I’m always working, and I will definitely be doing something special for my female fans with the song called 31. Other upcoming projects will include a collab with dancehall deejay Khago,” he said.
