Ras Slick voices concerns in new video

Jamaica Star, January 23, 2014

Reggae recording artiste Ras Slick is voicing his concerns about some of Jamaica’s ongoing social and economic woes in a brand-new single titled This Place.

Slick, who is based in Maryland, Virginia, recently released a music video for the song which he describes as a plea to his fellow Jamaicans to wake up and realise their true potential.

“On this new song, I wanted to shed some light on some serious issues taking place in Jamaica. I’m a proud Jamaican and, when I see people fighting and killing each other for foolish reasons, it really bothers me. In short, I just wanted to inspire those who are willing to listen and so, right now, we gearing up to promote the song both locally and internationally” he said.

Directed by Richard Brown, the video was shot on location in Negril, Westmoreland, and was produced by Shavy T Records.

Slick, who last year released Dreaming, his most successful single to date, is promising big things for the new year. “Well, for 2014, we will continue to work hard. I have a lot of new music on the way and we definitely are looking to do a lot more shows. I just want to build a steady fan base and grow as an artiste,” he said.
